Developing a National Research Agenda on Energy Poverty in Canada

30 April 2022

Despite high incidence and prevalence, energy poverty is not prominent on the Canadian national research or policy agenda. To address this gap, our project is a) mapping the key stakeholders representing a diversity of geographies, experiences and expertise with energy poverty and b) convening those stakeholders in a participatory planning workshop to identify challenges, opportunities, and priorities for advancing research and practice of energy poverty in Canada. Taken together, this project will develop a national research agenda on energy poverty – grounded in the expertise and experiences of key stakeholders – that supports policy and actions necessary to eliminate energy poverty in Canada.

The outputs of this project will guide the work of academics, governments, practitioners and civil society organizations in developing and implementing strategies for addressing energy poverty in Canada for years to come.
