A. Tour of the University of Salford’s Energy House 2.0?
Energy House 2.0 was completed in February 2022 and is the largest research facility of its type. Inside, there are two environmental chambers each able to accommodate two detached houses and under controlled conditions, recreate a wide variety of weather conditions with temperatures ranging between -20˚C to +40˚C and simulated wind, rain, snow and solar radiation. This unique facility will play a key role in accelerating the progress towards low carbon and net zero housing design and builds upon the success of the original Energy House 1, which was opened in 2012.

B. Working Together to Fix Fuel Poverty – A workshop discussion on cross-sectoral experiences and approaches
Tackling Fuel Poverty requires the efforts and expertise of those working across diverse and wide-ranging sectors. From energy, housing, health, environment, welfare, and myriad others, there is no one-size-fits-all solution to the complex problem that demands solutions that work not just for the bricks and mortar that make our homes, but that also fit with the lives of the people inhabiting them. This workshop will provide the opportunity to shine a light on successes and barriers in effective cross-sectoral working in tackling fuel poverty, considering what direction should be taken in short, medium and longer-term planning, and how this can be communicated as well as delivered across sectors.
C. CEES Energy Solidarity Toolkit / Financing New Actions
Partners in the Community Energy for Energy Solidarity (CEES) project all faced a substantial challenge: helping people in energy poverty takes a LOT of time. As energy communities aim to deliver low-cost energy, they already have tight margins. This workshop will help participants understand the pros and cons of diverse funding mechanisms — from micro-donations to big grants — and how to match funding schemes to specific actions.
